First Responder Family Resources Grant

2020 brought about a partnership between the CWCOG and the First Responder Family Resources Group to identify funding to support the efforts to create a “a proactive, first responder family resource that will equip our families to thrive.”

The First Responder Family Resources Group of Cowlitz County is a grass-roots group of volunteers made up of spouses, emergency services personnel, and administrators who recognize the importance of providing pro-active support and hands-on resources not only to the personnel themselves, but just as importantly, to the families they come home to.

The CWCOG was able to facilitate and apply for a one-time grant through The Health Care Foundation to bring first responder training to the local area and to begin to build a resource toolkit to aid families on multiple subjects having to do with being a first responder family.

The efforts of this group are just starting, but we are excited to be a part of this and help where we can.

You can find out more about this effort on the newly formed website created to be the depository for the toolkit resources. As they continue to identify the needs of the family unit and find answers to those needs, the site will grow into a place where one can find resources on multiple subjects having to do with being a first responder family.
